Privacy policy
Last updated 21 September 2026.
This policy covers eireneretreats.com, run by Eirene Retreats, Rishikesh, India. It describes what the site actually does, checked against the site itself rather than written from a template. If something here does not match what you experience, tell us and we will correct it.
What we collect, and when
When you send an enquiry. The enquiry form asks for your name, phone number and email address, which are required, and for the home you are interested in, your dates, the number of adults and children, and anything you want to tell us. That is the whole form. There is one more field in the page that you cannot see or reach with a keyboard; it is a trap for automated spam, and if you are a person it stays empty.
When you book and pay. Payments are taken by Razorpay on their own page. Your card details are entered there and never reach us or this website; we are told the outcome of the payment and the booking it belongs to.
When you simply visit. Our server records ordinary request information, including your IP address and browser user agent. Your browser stores two things on your own device: your cookie choice, and whether you prefer the light or evening version of the site. Both stay in your browser. We also read your browser's language and time zone, and a coarse country hint from your connection, only to show times and a greeting sensibly, and only after you accept cookies.
Advertising, and what your cookie choice actually changes
We advertise on Meta (Facebook and Instagram), and we measure whether those adverts lead to real enquiries. This is the only tracking on the site: there is no Google Analytics, no Tag Manager, and no other analytics product running here.
If you accept cookies, two things happen:
- The Meta pixel loads in your browser and reports these events: a page view, viewing a stay, starting a contact, sending an enquiry, and completing a booking.
- We send Meta the same events from our own server, so they are not lost to an ad-blocker. Where you have given them, your email address, phone number and first name are turned into an irreversible code before they are sent, so Meta can match you to an advert without receiving them in readable form. Your IP address, your browser user agent, and Meta's own cookies from your browser are sent as they are.
If you decline cookies, the Meta pixel is never loaded and no event about you is sent to Meta at all. One thing still happens: if you tap the WhatsApp button, we record on our own server that a WhatsApp tap came from this page, with the IP address and user agent of that request, so we can tell which parts of the site lead to conversations. Your email, phone and name are not included, and nothing about it goes to Meta.
One exception worth stating plainly. When a booking is confirmed after payment, we send Meta a record that a booking completed, with your email, phone number and first name in the irreversible coded form described above. That happens on our server at the moment the payment lands, when you are on the payment provider's page rather than ours, so it is not covered by the cookie banner. If you would rather we did not, write to us and we will exclude you.
Who else sees anything
- Meta: advertising measurement, as described above.
- Razorpay: takes the payment and holds the card details.
- Google Fonts: the page loads its typefaces from Google, and that request shows Google your IP address. It happens on every page of this site.
- Our email and hosting providers: they carry the enquiry to us and run this site.
- Airbnb: only if you booked us through Airbnb, in which case their privacy policy governs what they collected.
Links to WhatsApp, Instagram, Airbnb and Google Maps leave this site. Once you follow one, that company's own policy applies, not this one. We do not sell your information to anybody, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.
Why we are allowed to hold it
We hold your enquiry and booking details because you asked us about a stay and because we need them to provide it, and we keep records of bookings and payments for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires. We use your information for advertising measurement only with your consent, which you give or refuse through the cookie banner and can change at any time.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept while we are talking to you and afterwards as part of our record of guests, so that a returning guest does not have to start again. Booking, invoice and payment records are kept for the period Indian tax law requires. If you ask us to delete your information we will do so, except for records we are legally required to keep.
Your choices
- Ask us what we hold about you, and we will tell you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your information, subject to the records law requires us to keep.
- Change or withdraw your cookie consent at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the banner back.
- Ask us to exclude you from advertising measurement, including the booking event described above.
For any of these, write to contact@eireneretreats.com and we will answer.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
This site is for adults making travel arrangements. We ask how many children are coming so we can prepare the home, and nothing more about them. We do not knowingly collect information from a child directly.
Changes to this policy
If what we do changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top will say when. It is worth a look before you send us anything you would not want kept.
